Biography

Tony Zhong is currently working as Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York. He received his doctoral degree from the Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University.

Zhong’s current research spans three areas: statistical methodology research in experimental design and analysis, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and cancer epidemiology. He plays the role of co-investigator in multiple NIH-funded research projects. His currents research projects include developing statistical methods in designing and analyzing sequential multiple assignment randomized trials (SMART) for selecting adaptive treatment strategies, risk factors and interventions for preventing ischemic stroke recurrence, cannabidiol in the treatment of opioid use disorder, biomarker to identify patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer for definitive treatment with chemotherapy plus PD-1 blockade, dissecting myeloid cell-mediated resistance to immune checkpoint blockade in bladder cancer, and palliative care at home for patients with dementia.

Zhong’s academic services include working as a core member of Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) in Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Health System, a member of the Editorial Board in the Journal of Contemporary Clinical Trials.

Zhong’s awards include elected members of Golden Key International Honor Society (top 15% graduate students), Merit Doctoral Scholar Award at Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University, the Student Paper Competition Award with highest-rated paper in Mental Health Statistics Section of Joint Statistical Meeting (JSM) in 2018, and Finalist for Thomas Chalmers Scholarship of the Annual Meeting of the Society for Clinical Trial (SCT) in 2018.
